Seekho Aur Kamao scheme for minorities

Seekho Aur Kamao scheme is for skill development of minorities. It is a government initiative and operated by the union ministry of minority affairs. In the large young population, only 10% are labour forces in which 8% informally and 2% formally have vocational skills.

Objectives of Seekho Aur Kamao

  • To bring down the unemployment rate
  • To update and conserve the traditional skills of minorities
  • To establish their linkages with the market
  • To improve the employability of school dropouts and existing workers
  • To ensure their placement
  • To bring them in the mainstream
  • To develop potential human resource
  • To enable market opportunities

Eligible Trainees/Beneficiaries

  • The trainee should be between 14-45 years
  • The trainee should belong to the minority community
  • Trainee’s minimum qualification should be at least class V
  • If the seats remain vacant then those seats treated as unreserved

Pattern of Funding

  • The full cost of the approved projects would be borne by the ministry
  • An incentive amount of 5% of the project will be given to PIA’s who successfully complete the given project on time
  • The cost norms shall be as per common norms of the ministry
  • Testing and certification fees
  • Other training costs   
  • Monthly remuneration to faculty etc.

Proposals will be considered by the following Committee

1 Concerned joint secretary/additional secretary in the ministry Chairperson
2 Representative of NITI Aayog Member
3 Representative of ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship Member
4 Representative of JS and FA Member
5 Director (PMJVK) in the ministry Member
6 Director (concerned with the scheme) Member secretary

Placement and Post-Placement Support

  • Placement should be made with minimum dislocation
  • Distribution of PPS is the responsibility of the PIA
  • Placements should be in the organized sector
  • Offering a valid future progression

Supervision and Quality Management

  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation procedures and certification
  • Updation of required MIS entries
  • Maintenance of training centres
  • Fund releases
  • Grievance redresses arrangements for PIA’s, candidates, trainers and employers
  • Regular review of the projects

Therefore seekho aur kamao scheme is doing a lot for the minorities. This scheme focuses on their skills and better future. Thousands of people had taken benefit of this scheme.
